Having attended sculpture classes at the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts, Giulietta Gheller furthered her education by completing a Master’s degree in Art History at the University of Bologna.
Her passion for drawing, with a strong preference for the figurative, allows Giulietta to explore different forms of media, from oil, watercolour and pastel to developing her sketches into full-scale sculptures.
Favouring big sizes, her paintings combine figuration and abstraction. A main motive she explores, is that of human face, creating also an extensive collection of self-portraits. As for techniques, she moves across oil, water colour and pastel.
Her full-size sculptures are moulded in plastic and malleable materials such as clay, plaster, fiberglass, synthetic resin and similar. A recent interest is the assemblage of natural materials and objects with sculpture interventions, touching upon metamorphosis-themed works.
